Research Reglass

The founder and president of the company has oriented Reglass to the continuous improvement according to a philosophy divided into 3 parts:

research on new materials
elimination of all defects during the process
improvement and innovation of the product

For this reason research and development testing are constantly applied.
Approximately 8% of the production’s turnover is invested in R&D.

Several of Reglass research projects have been worthy of public financing and have been completed successfully.

Reglass boasts several patents and is listed as certified research laboratory by MIUR (Italian Ministry of the University and Research).

Reglass carries out researches on order of the customers too. In some cases these contracts can take advantage of financing facilities

Reglass is constantly updated and experiments, together with the producers of carbon fibre, new kinds of carbon fibre that enter the market. The always higher elastic modules of these fibres require resins with very high mechanical characteristics to benefit from all the advantages.

For this reason we develop an intense research activity on resins and additives, which has brought to exclusive high performance resin formulations (using also nanomaterials) that make Reglass’ prepregs unique in its field.

Of the several developments made, we have defined high temperature resins that can hold working temperatures of the rollers without any deformation at up to 150-160° or for special applications, at up to 200°C.

Reglass continuously carries out research with monitoring activities of all imperfections and improves the production process for eliminating them.

The most important problems concern the interface between the layers (involved in the stress transfer and the possible crack propagation), the thermal cycles that matrix endures and the deriving stresses, the surface protection from impact phenomena and consequent damages.

The new solutions Reglass is studying in this field, with the support of the National Research Council and some University Institutes, have taken composites to be more precise and reliable.

The development of new products, new ideas and new production technologies is the third pillar of the Reglass’ research.

This development is always oriented to solve customer problems and discover solutions that simplify the product use.

Often this leads to new patents and exclusive solutions that keep the Reglass production a step ahead of the competitors.

At present Reglass has more than 20 national and international active patents.
